As we hit regional finals, there’s quite a bit of shake-up in the High School Football America Ohio Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

At the top, three-time defending Division I champ St. Edward has flip-flopped with Archbishop Hoban at No. 3 and No. 4. The Eagles move to No. 3 on its strength of school, despite a 24-21 loss to Hoban in the season finale for both.

All of HSFA’s rankings are based on a proprietary algorithm that we began using in 2013.

St. Ed’s try for a four-peat continues to week against No. 21 Mentor in the Region 1 final.

St. Xavier also switches with Lakota East at No. 8 and No. 9. The Bombers sit at No. 8 after edging the Firebirds 16-13 last Friday. The win reversed a 17-13 win by Lakota West of St. X in the season opener for both teams.

St. X will face Greater Catholic League South foe Archbishop Moller for the Division I Region 4 title. Big Mo beat the Bombers 45-37 on September 20, which helped lead the Crusaders to the GCL South championship.

The Division I Region 3 title will be decided in a battle between No. 11 Olentangy Liberty and No. 13 Pickerington North.

In Division II, Hoban will square-off with No. 12 Walsh Jesuit for the Region 5 title. Back on October 4, WJ beat the Knights 19-14.

The Division II Region 4 final is also a Top 25 head-to-head with No. 10 Anderson facing No. 17 La Salle.

The sixth T25 head-to-head this week is in the Division III Region 3 final between No. 23 Bishop Watterson and No. 24 Steubenville. Both teams bring perfect records into the game.
