Ohio’s Battle of Elyria is off for 2023

It looks like Brian Fox’s move from Elyria Catholic to Elyria High is putting the high school football battle of crosstown rivals on hold.

The Chronicle is reporting that the Elyria Catholic has decided to play Liberty-Benton in this year’s season opener. Since 2010, the Battle of Elyria has been played seven times with Elyria holding a 5-2 edge.

Last month, Brian Fox announced he was leaving EC for Elyria. After taking-over the Panthers in 2018, Fox led the program to a 40-18 record.
