The 2018 high school football regular season in Hawaii began Friday night with six contests. Eight more season openers will be played Saturday.

Below are short capsules of some of Friday night’s games:

Aiea 12 Kaiser 12 – Kaiser QB Koa Tom ran for two scores, while Aiea quarterback Na Alii threw touchdown passes in the season opening tie.

Farrington 35 Leilehua 16 – Farrington’s defense was stellar with five sacks with 14 tackles for losses. The Governors held Leilehua to minus-37 yards rushing.

Kapolei 53 Castle 7 – Kapolei used two sophomore quarterbacks in the victory. Christian Rapis threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns in the first half, while Noa Bailey tossed for two scores in the second half.

Waipahu 34 Waianae 13 – Waipahu scored 20 of its 27 second half points in the fourth quarter to win its season opener. Junior quarterback Cody Marques led the way with 218 yards passing with three touchdowns. He also ran for a score.
