Ted Evans of Paramus High School in Paramus, NJ has been named this week’s Girls Flag High School Coach of the Week Game Changer presented by Visa. Coach Evans will receive a $2,000 donation to benefit the school’s flag football program. Along with the monetary award, Coach Evans will be invited to attend the New York Jets preseason game in August, where he will be honored on field at MetLife Stadium.

In its first year, the Jets Girls Flag High School Coach of the Week Game Changer presented by Visa award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes.

Coach Evans attended St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, NJ. In his first year coaching Girls Flag, the Spartans have already posted two shutouts last week, beating Passaic 14-0 and Indian Hills 31-0. He drove the initiative in bringing Girls Flag to Paramus this season after students sought his help in starting a team. While Evans is new to flag football, he has many years of experience coaching boys tackle with stints at his alma mater and Dumont High School. He later became the lineman coach for both offense and defense at Paramus, where he also teaches business and personal finance. Evans graduated from Hofstra University in 1990 and was an offensive lineman on the football team. Paramus has a 2-0 start this season and will look to improve their record in their next matchup against J.F. Kennedy High School.
