St. Joseph’s Prep became only the second team in Pennsylvania high school football history to win back-to-back Class AAAA titles Saturday night. The Hawks did it with a heart-stopping 49-41 win over Pine-Richland that was seeking its first state crown.
SJP now joins CB West as the only back-to-back winners since Pennsylvania began its statewide playoff system in 1998. The Bucks are the only school to win three straight AAAA titles from 1997 to 1999.
All of the championships came under legendary CB West head coach Mike Pettine, Sr., father of Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine, Jr.
