Pennsylvania high school football rankings: Week 1

It was a rough weekend for some of the top teams in the state during the opening weekend of the 2016 high school football season.

Pittsburgh Central Catholic, which began the season ranked #11 nationally, lost to #39 St. John’s College High School from Washington, D.C.  Pine-Richland lost on national television to St. Edward, which is ranked #23 in the latest High School Football America Top 25.

So with that as the backdrop, let’s look at our first in-season High School Football America Pennsylvania High School Football Top 10.  The rankings are developed using our proprietary algorithm that we use for our national and regional rankings.

With PCC’s loss, St. Joseph’s Prep begins the year ranked #1 in our poll.  This week the Hawks, ranked #33 in our national rankings, will open the season in California against Oaks Christian, ranked #6 in our High School Football America Southern California Top 25.
