The top team in the High School Football America Pennsylvania Top 25, St. Joseph’s Prep, will finally hit the gridiron this weekend when it plays Virginia’s Life Christian Academy. The Hawks, who are also ranked No. 6 in the High School Football America 100, have been working overtime putting together a schedule since the Philadelphia Catholic League announced its wouldn’t play football this Fall and then reversed that decision a couple of weeks ago.

The game will be played at a neutral site, St. Mary Ryken High School in Leonardville, Maryland. LCA (1-2) is no stranger to road games with their first three games being played in Arkansas, Florida and Texas.

SJP, which will play a six-game regular season, has won the last two Pennsylvania Class 6A championships.

As far as the new High School Football America Pennsylvania Top 25 is concerned, there are plenty other ranked teams that will be hitting the gridiron for their first games of the 2020 season. Heading the list is No. 20 Downingtown West taking-on La Salle, which moves-up five spots this week to No. 7 in the our statewide rankings.

No. 17 Harrisburg opens against Berks Catholic and No. 22 Coatesville will play its season opener against Avon Grove.

There one head-to-head Top 25 matchup this week. It will be played Sunday when No. 10 Gateway takes-on No. 16 Penn-Trafford. Gateway has been idle for two weeks since a COVID-19 diagnosis for one of its players.

New to this week’s rankings is Wilson (West Lawn) at No. 24.
