Imhotep Charter’s Keon Wylie closed-out his scholastic career on Memorial Day by capturing the Pennsylvania MVP award in the 65th annual Big 33 Classic. Wylie, who now heads to Penn State, had two sacks in Pennsylvania’s 28-7 win over Maryland at Rocco Ortenzio Stadium at Harrisburg’s Bishop McDevitt High School.

“This is a nice way to go out, because I didn’t win a state championship and I played in was the All-American Bowl, and we lost that, so it felt good to redeem myself in one last game,” Wylie told EasternPAFootball.com. “I wanted to come out here and do my thing. This was fun. We had to go through the trials and different tribulations of learning new plays. This was a good experience with my host family, but there are more challenges ahead at Penn State.”

A couple of players from state champion Mount Lebanon led the PA offense at the start of the game.

Eli Heidenrich, who is headed to the Naval Academy, scored the first touchdown of the game on a pass from high school teammate Joey Daniels, who will play collegiately at Dayton.

West Chester University-bound Ethan Kohler made it 14-0 on a 9-yard TD scramble. Kohler played his high school ball at Perkiomen Valley High School.

“We put on a good show today and missed some opportunities on a couple of long ones we could have hit, but our defense was phenomenal,” Kohler told EasternPAFootball.com. “They kept giving us the ball in great positions, and our o-line paved the path for our running backs to run behind. We had more in us, but we played well today. With this talent, you have so many smart football players, and we got the system down in two days. I dream for these moments—I had a blast today.”

Pennsylvania’s third score came from a Mount Lebanon star Alex Tecza, who will also attend the Naval Academy.

The win was the third straight for the Pennsylvania squad over Maryland.
