Philadelphia Catholic League’s Red Division ranked 2nd toughest high school football league in America

With two state champs and one state runner-up, the Philadelphia Catholic League's Red Division is the second toughest high school football league in America.

With two state champs and one state runner-up, the Philadelphia Catholic League’s Red Division is the second toughest high school football league in America. That’s according to the High School Football America algorithm, powered by NFL Play Football.

Leading the way is 6A state champ St. Joseph’s Prep (11-2), which finished No. 26 in the HSFA 300 at the end of 2024. The Hawks have won three straight 6A state titles and seven of the last eight crowns.

Regular season champ La Salle College High School (10-1) finished No. 36 in the nation. After beating the Hawks in four overtimes in early October, the Explorers’ season came to an end in the District 12 playoffs a month later.

4A state champ Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prenedergast (12-2) finished No. 202 in our national rankings. The co-op’s only losses came at the hands of St. Joe’s and La Salle

5A runner-up Roman Catholic (11-5) finished No. 207 in America. The Cahillitte lost to Bishop McDevitt in overtime in the state title game.

When you add-in Cardinal O’Hara (6-6) and Father Judge, the league’s overall record was 53-24. Only Father Judge (3-8) finished with a sub-.500 record.
