The Philadelphia Eagles are pleased to announce a partnership with Leveling the Playing Field (LPF), an organization dedicated to the mental and physical development of children through youth sports participation. In honor of the new partnership, the Eagles presented LPF with a $60,000 grant on Tuesday at the grand opening of its new Philadelphia warehouse, which will store youth sports equipment donated by the community.

“We are proud to partner with Leveling the Playing Field to ensure young athletes across the Greater Philadelphia Area have the proper equipment and support necessary to engage in youth sports,” said Julie Hirshey, Vice President of Community Relations, Philadelphia Eagles. “We look forward to working alongside LPF and our local community to enhance the overall development of children in our city through increased access to youth sports and fitness activities.”

According to research, the participation of children in youth sports leagues has declined over the past few years due largely to the increasing costs, time commitments, and competitive nature of organized sports leagues. Together, the Eagles and LPF will get children involved and keep them engaged in youth sports activities.

“We are so excited to bring Leveling the Playing Field to Philadelphia and continue our work to ensure every child in and around the city has the chance to participate in youth sports,” said Matt Levitt, Founder/Executive Director, Leveling the Playing Field. “Working with the Eagles is the quintessential team effort on behalf of thousands of local kids who will now benefit both physically and emotionally from the positive experience that sports provide.”

LPF gives underprivileged children the opportunity to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of youth sports participation. LPF collects new and gently used sports and playground equipment from local youth sports communities. Volunteers then sort the donations in their warehouse so that they can distribute the equipment to schools and organizations working to provide an affordable and accessible option to under-resourced youth groups, community programs, and schools throughout the area.
