For the first time ever the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame is honoring a high school Offensive and a Defensive Player of the Year.
Winning the Polynesian Offensive Player of the Year is Campbell (Hawaii) quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele, who will play his college football at Oregon. Sagapolutele finished his scholastic career with 10,653 yards, the most in Hawaii high school football history. His 114 touchdowns are the second most all-time.
Last year, Campbell finished No. 172 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
The Defensive Player of the Year is defensive end Iose Epenesa of Edwardsville High in Illinois. Epenesa is the brother of Buffalo Bills defensive end AJ Epenesa. The younger Epenesa will play his college football at the University of Iowa.
The Polynesian High School Football Player of the Year Award is presented annually to the most outstanding senior high school football player of Polynesian Ancestry.
