For the first time since 2020, there’s a new No. 1 in the High School Football America Indiana Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

Two-time defending 5A champ Cathedral starts 2022 at the top of the statewide preseason rankings creative with our proprietary algorithm. The Fighting Irish, which are moving to 6A this season, are the first team other than Center Grove to be at the top of our poll in the last two years.

Carmel, which starts No. 3 this year, began 2020 at No. 1, but Center Grove moved to No. 1 on September 3, 2020 and never gave-up that ranking during the Trojans run to two straight 6A state titles. Center Grove begins this year ranked No. 2.

Falling-in behind Carmel is Brownsburg at No. 4, Westfield at No. 5, Warren Central at No. 6, Ben Davis at No. 7, Merrillville at No. 8, Lawrence North at No. 9 and Southeast Hamilton at No. 10.

The top seven teams in the statewide rankings are also ranked nationally in the High School Football America 300. Cathedral leads the way at No. 26 in America.
