Friday night’s CIF-Southern Section Eastern Division (IX) championship will feature two teams that know each other well.  Oak Hills and Serrano are both members of the Mojave River League.

Serrano (11-2) won the championship by beating Oak Hills (8-5) 36-10 on October 9th.

Serrano, which lost to Palm Springs 24-21 in last year championship game, is led by running back Sultaan Sullivan, who’s rushed for 3,019 yards with 48 touchdowns.  Sullivan is averaging 12 yards per carry.  He’s coming-off his best performance of the season last week when he ran for 351 yards and five touchdowns against Palm Desert.

Oak Hills is riding a seven game win streak since losing to Serrano in early October.  Junior quarterback Brandon Porter has had a fine year with over 2,400 yards passing with 25 touchdowns and only seven interceptions.

Serrano is looking for its first CIF-SS football championship since 2009, while Oak Hills will be looking for its first title.
