Providence Day has a lot of talent on its roster as it goes after a third straight North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association state championship.

With 2022 North Carolina Mr. Football Jadyn Davis triggering the offense, the Chargers start the year ranked No. 1 in the High School Football America North Carolina Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Last year, the Michigan-recruit threw for 3,425 yards with 43 touchdowns and just six interceptions.

Davis gets plenty of protection up-front from offensive tackle David Sanders, who is our No. 7 college football prospect in the Class of 2025.

Davis, Sanders and the Chargers will find-out quickly how good 2023 will be. The team will play the first high school football game in Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, against nationally-ranked Northwestern from South Carolina on August 19.

PD is ranked No. 128 in our Preseason Top 300 national rankings. Northwestern is ranked No. 133.

Hough checks-in at No. 2 in our statewide rankings created with our proprietary algorithm. 2022 4A runner-up Grimsley is No. 3, followed by Mallard Creek at No. 4 and Weddington at No. 5.
