#24 Carmel (8-0) beat #20 Warren Central Friday night 17-10 without its starting QB.
With quarterback Michael Viktrup sidelined from an injured ankle suffered in last week’s win over Ben Davis, the Greyhounds clinched a tie for the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference title behind back-up QB Isaac James. On his first pass of the night, James tossed an 80-yard TD pass to Collin Pearson for a 7-0 lead. On the next drive, Chris Perkins scored on a 5-yard TD run to give Carmel a 14-0 lead.
Warren Central (7-1) closed to 14-10 with 4:50 to go in the half, but that was as close as the Warriors would get.
