Throughout this weekend, High School Football America will feature recaps of the 31st annual Corky Kell Classic. This year’s four-day, 11-game event will be played at four different venues, including Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons.

Ten teams are ranked in our High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, will be in action.

Saturday Games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

McEachern vs. No. 23 North Gwinnett

North Gwinnett sophomore quarterback Ryan Hall led the Bulldogs to a 32-20 victory over McEachern in the first game of the quadruple-header at M-B Stadium. Hall threw for 237 yards and two touchdown, plus ran for 72 yards and a score.

No. 10 Brookwood vs. Norcross

Alabama-recruit Dylan Lonergan threw two touchdowns and ran for another in Brookwood’s 28-24 win over Norcross. Lonergan, who will play baseball and football in Tuscaloosa, was 12-of-22 for 186 yards. He ran for 78-yards.

No. 6 Mill Creek vs. No. 9 Walton

Mill Creek beat Walton in a battle of Top 10’s 44-41 in a game that had eight lead changes. Hayden Clark’s 21-yard TD pass to Makhail Wood with :21 seconds to play was the game-winner.

No. 5 Grayson vs. Marietta

Grayson’s run defense was superb against Marietta. The Rams held the Blue Devils to minus-21 yards on the ground in a 32-12 victory. Joe Taylor, Jr. ran for 119 yards and a touchdown.

Friday Games at Barron Stadium in Rome

Mt. Pisgah vs. Fellowship Christian

Jack Cendoya’s 3-yard touchdown pass to Makael Carter gave Mt. Pisgah a 21-10 led around the eight minute mark that turned-out to be the game-winning score. The Patriots did need a big defensive stop to seal the 21-18 win.

Cendoya completed 20-of-33 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball 16 times for 58 yards and one touchdown. 

Cass vs. No. 21 Kennesaw Mountain

Kennesaw Mountain edged Cass 26-25 in a game that have seven lead changes. Ty Roldan booted a 35-yard field goal with 9:11 to win the season opener for both teams.

Cass was hurt by a couple of botched extra-points and a failed two-point conversion.

Kennesaw Mountain running back T.J. Jenkins ran for 181 yards and a touchdown.

No. 18 Creekside at No. 17 Rome

In a battle of Georgia Top 25 teams, No. 17 Rome defeated No. 18 Creekside. Chance Arthur scored late in the first quarter and the Rome defense put points on the board with a safety on the way to a 9-0 first half lead.

On defense, Alto Moore led Rome with 10 tackles and a sack, plus one fumble recovery. The MVP award went to Stephiylan Green with six tackles and one-and-a-half sacks.

Thursday Games at West Forsyth

North Atlanta vs. North Forsyth

The only time that North Atlanta led against North Forsyth was when the Warriors scored with a 1:03 to play in the game. Randolph Smith’s TD catch gave North Atlanta a 31-27 victory.

West Forsyth vs. Archer

West Forsyth sacked Archer QB Justin Johnson six times times in a 21-7 victory. Ryder Stewart ran for 101 yards and a touchdown.

Wednesday Games at Johns Creek

Cherokee Bluff vs. Kell

Bobby May’s debut as Kell’s head coach was a successful one. The former Westlake HC led the Longhorns to a 38-23 win over Cherokee Bluff.

Junior quarterback Bryce Clavon completed 14-for-24 passes with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Seven of the passes fell into the hands of Peyton Zachary for 109 yards with a touchdowns.

Johns Creek vs. Parkview

Parkview, ranked just outside of our Top 25, opened with a 52-7 blowout of Johns Creek. The Panthers had a well-balanced attack.

Khyair Spain ran the ball 13 times for 140 yards with two touchdowns. Quarterback Colin Houck completed 14-of-19 passes for 194 yards with three touchdowns. He also ran for a score

Mike Matthews caught six balls for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
