Friday night, high school football returns to Rhode Island. Teams have been practicing since February 22 for a shortened season that will lead into a four-team postseason and culminate with state championship games May 1 and 2.

Last September, the Rhode Island Interscholastic League postponed the fall season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
