The Rome Wolves are coming off an 11-2 season. The season came to an end in the 6A state quarterfinals with a close 19-16 loss to eventual state champ Thomas County Central.
With Georgia’s realignment for 2024 and 2025, Rome drops from 6A to 5A. The Wolves are in Region 5 with Alexander, East Paulding, Kennesaw Mountain, Lithia Springs, New Manchester, South Paulding and Villa Rica.
The Wolves will get a good test out-of-the-box when they face Creekside in the Corky Kell + Dave Snyder Classic. Both teams finished in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Rome finished No. 97 in the nation, Creekside was No. 92.
In Week 3, Rome will play another nationally-ranked team when it travels to 7A quarterfinalist Carrollton, which finished No. 65 in the HSFA 300. The Trojans are led by 5-star QB JuJu Lewis.
