It’s on to the state quarterfinals in the Georgia High School Athletic Association 2023 high school football playoffs. Round 2 saw the season end for three defending state champs.

Rome beat defending 6A champ Langston Hughes 42-14. The Wolves defense picked-off Ohio State-recruit Air Noland four times.

Warner Robins edged ’22 5A champ Ware County 23-21 on a 42-yard walk-off field goal by Alberto Medina. The Demons are trying to reach the state finals for the seventh straight season.

Toombs County beat defending 2A champ Thomson 41-30. The win pushes Toombs into the state quarters for the first time since 2008.
