Legend High School has hired a new head coach, who was a legendary player during his high school playing days. Jake Heaps, who is known more recently as Russell Wilson’s personal QB coach, is the new head coach at Legend, located outside of Denver.
Heaps won three straight Washington high school football state championships during his playing days at Skyline High School. He threw for over 9,100 and 114 touchdowns from 2007 through 2009. He was considered the top quarterback in the Class of 2010 by Rivals.com.
After playing collegiately at BYU, Kansas and Miami (Florida), Heaps had tryouts with a couple NFL and CFL teams.
Heaps and Wilson began a friendship in 2016 during the NFL QB’s time with the Seattle Seahawks. The relationship evolved into Heaps becoming Wilson’s personal coach.
Wilson saluted Heaps’ hiring on his X account.
