San Antonio Alamodome to host 3-game Pigskin Classic to kickoff 2022

Thanks to a local TV station, San Antonio-area high school football fans will get a tripleheader at the Alamodome to kickoff of the 2022 season. The KSAT Pigskin Classic will be played Saturday, August 27.

The three-game event kicks-off with Smithson Valley playing San Antonio Reagan. SV is coming-off a 9-3 season, losing in the second round of the Class 6A Division I playoffs. Reagan was 7-4 with a first round playoff loss in 6A-I.

The middle game of the tripleheader feature Judson playing San Antonio Johnson. After a perfect 10-0 regular season, Johnson lost in the opening round of the 6A-II playoffs. Judson was 4-6 in 2021.

The nightcap, Cibolo Steele will take-on San Antonio Brennan, two teams that finished in honorable mention in the High School Football America national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

Brennan was 13-1 last season, losing in the 6A-I state quarterfinals to Lake Travis. The Knights were 11-0 before dropping a 38-0 decision to Vandegrift in the second round of the 6A-II playoffs.
