Now that the future of Alabama is in the hands of Kalen DeBoer, the state’s top high school football player, Ryan Williams ,says he’s staying in-state for the start of his college football career. The 5-star recruit from Saraland, who was the state’s 2022 Mr. Football, announced his recommitment to the Crimson Tide Wednesday on his X account.

It looks Wednesday’s announcement brings an end to a crazy 5+ weeks that saw Williams re-classify from the Class of 2025 to the Class of ’24. He then decided to re-open his college search when Nick Saban announced his retirement.

After leading Saraland to Alabama’s 6A title in 2022, Williams totaled over 2,300 all-purpose yards last season with 30 touchdowns. This past season, the Spartans finished runner-up in 6A and a No. 42 ranking in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
