The first-ever high school football game at SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams, was a sellout success. 18,000 fans attended Friday night’s game between arch-rivals Downey and Warren.

Fans completely filled the lower level of the Inglewood stadium to watch Warren win a hard-fought 28-21 victory. The rivalry dates back to 1955.

It’s called a sellout because stadium officials only put out 18,000 tickets on sale.

The game was part of “LA Bowl Friday Night Lights.” Warren will be invited back to SoFi on December 16 to be honored during the LA Bowl, a college football bowl game between teams from the PAC-12 and Mountain West.

“L.A. Bowl is committed to promoting the importance of education, health and wellness, and physical activity by hosting various events in the local community,” Adolfo Romero, vice president of programming and booking at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, said in a statement prior to the game. “We’re excited to continue these efforts by welcoming the students, faculty, and families of Downey High School and Warren High School to SoFi Stadium for its first high school football game.”
