The Tale of Tape for Week 2 of the High School Football America 100 national high school football rankings is that there are seven new teams in the Top 100 after a weekend that featured fourteen head-to-head matchups in the HSFA 100.

As I mentioned when we released our preseason national rankings, the algorithm is designed to break down the on-the-field performances. Now, two weeks into the regular season, the chase for our “mythical” national championship is officially on its way.

The biggest riser in this week’s Top 100 is Mentor (Ohio). The Cardinals vault from No. 107 to No. 37 after nipping former No. 16 St. Edward in their Ohio showdown.

Georgia’s Marietta soars 45 spots from No. 59 to No. 14 after edging former No. 4 St. Joseph’s Prep (Pennsylvania).

Aside from Mentor, the other new Top 100 teams are: Denton Guyer (Texas) at No. 49, Grace Brethren (Simi Valley, California) at No. 73, Lone Peak (Utah) at No. 78, Arlington Martin (Texas) at No. 82, Hewitt-Trussville (Alabama) at No. 92 and Madison Central (Mississippi) at No. 99.
