50 days after releasing our Preseason 100 on July 1, we finally get to our first in-season High School Football America 100 that is created with our proprietary algorithm.
While there are still a lot of states on the sidelines waiting for the regular season to begin, this weekend’s games start the shuffling. Seven new teams enter this week’s rankings and there is shuffling within the Top 5.
I’ll start there where St. John Bosco (California) and IMG Academy (Florida) slide-up a notch to No. 3 and No. 4 respectively. Preseason No. 3 Grayson slips to No. 5…not because the what the Rams did on the field, but because No. 66 Archer lost 21-19 to unranked Milton in Georgia’s Corky Kell Classic. That Archer loss affected Grayson’s Strength of Schedule in our algorithm. The Rams were idle this past weekend.

Archer was one of two Preseason 100 Georgia teams to lose during the opening week of the season. Marietta lost to two-time defending state champ Rome, which dropped the Blue Devils from No. 57 to No. 88. Rome climbed from No. 50 to No. 35, while Archer drops out of the HSFA 100.

This week, Marietta, which plays one of the toughest schedules in the nation, will host No. 7 Good Counsel from Maryland.
The Marietta/Good Counsel game is one of twelve head-to-head matchups within the Top 100 national rankings. The other games are: No. 1 Mater Dei (California) at No. 10 Bishop Gorman (Nevada), #11 Pickerington Central (Ohio) hosts No. 63 Phillips Academy (Illinois), No. 14 Miami Central (Florida) takes on No. 38 Cardinal Gibbons (Florida), No. 51 DeMatha (Maryland) faces No. 17 St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida), No. 19 Warren Central (Indiana) travels to No. 64 Trinity, No. 24 Corona Centennial (California) plays No. 39 Orange Lutheran (California), No. 30 Saguaro (Arizona) hosts No. 45 Liberty (Nevada), No. 33 St. Edward (Ohio) collides with No. 37 Mentor (Ohio), No. 36 Bingham (Utah) travels to No. 49 East (Utah), No. 70 Maryville (Tennessee) hosts No. 40 Oakland (Tennessee), No. 63 Chaminade-Madonna (Florida) goes against No. 85 Deerfield Beach (Florida).
Joining the High School Football America 100 this week are: Carmel, which moves from No. 114 to No. 57 after beating former No. 22 Trinity (Kentucky), Oaks Christian (California) at No. 70, Walton (Georgia) at No. 82, Hough (North Carolina) at No. 90, Wake Forest (North Carolina) at No. 92, Lausanne Collegiate (Tennessee) at No. 99 and Charlotte Christian (North Carolina) at No. 100.
