Bennington’s run of three straight Nebraska high school football championships ended Tuesday night at Nebraska’s Memorial Stadium. Skutt Catholic edged Bennington 29-26 to capture the school’s sixth overall state football championship.

Bennington fought back in the Class C-2 from a 21-6 halftime deficit to take a 26-23 lead. Dylan Van Dyke tossed a 19-yard touchdown pass Joe Kolega to give the Skyhawks the win. Van Dyke threw for 380 yards with two touchdowns.
