High School Football America/SoCal Top 20 – Week 1

There are changes as the top of the first in-season High School Football America/SoCal Top 20.

#2 Servite falls four spots after its loss to Bishop Gorman.  The Gaels are currently ranked #8 nationally in HSFA’s Top 25.  The Friars were #22 in our preseason national rankings, but they fell-out this week after a result of the loss to the five-time Nevada champs.

Mater Dei‘s impressive win over Corona Centennial shuffles their respective spots in this week’s rankings.  Mater Dei climbs from #5 to #2, while the Huskies tumble from #6 to #13 with a big game against #9 Orange Lutheran this Saturday at The Honor Bowl at Oceanside High School.  Mater Dei’s victory also moves them into our national rankings at #22.

St. John Bosco, the #1 team in our SoCal rankings, is #6 in our national rankings.

Hart‘s 63-48 shootout loss to Chino Hills, drops the Indians out of the Top 25 and moves the Huskies into the rankings at #17. Also new to the poll this week is Corona del Mar at #18 Narbonne at #19 and Crespi at #20.  Aside from Hart, dropping out is #18 St. Bonventure, #19 Oaks Christian and #20 Mission Viejo – all suffered opening weekend loses.
