12-time Alaska high school football champ Soldotna is No. 1 in the first 2023 in-season High School Football America Alaska Top 5, powered by NFL Play Football. The Stars move to the top after knocking-off preseason No. 1 Lathrop 56-20 Saturday.

Lathrop beat Soldotna in the 2021 and 2022 Division II championship games. The ’21 win snapped the Stars’ run of eight straight state titles.

Lathrop tumbles to No. 4 this week.

Bettye Davis East moves from its preseason No. 5 ranking to No. 2 this week after beating preseason No. 4 Juneau-Douglas/Thunder Mountain 21-6. The Huskies fall a notch to No. 5 in the latest statewide rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.

West breaks into the Top 5 at No. 3 after beating reigning Division I champ Colony 41-20.
