Another year, another state championship.  Soldotna won its sixth straight Alaska state title Saturday.  The Stars shutout Palmer 21-0 Saturday for the state’s Division II title.

After the team’s 59th straight win, Soldotona head coach Galen Brantley told the Alaska Dispatch News, “I thought our kids played absolutely terrific defense. My defensive coordinator Eric Pomerleau and assistant coaches Phil Leck and Sarge Truesdell put together a great defensive game plan and our kids executed it with precision and got the shutout.”

Soldotna’s win streak is the second longest active streak in 11-man football in America.
