The Gaffney Indians are going into a two-week quarantine due to COVID-19 issues within the program. The Indians, who are ranked No. 2 in the state and No. 96 in the nation, won’t return to the practice field until November 2. There’s no word on whether Gaffney’s two games during this stretch will be rescheduled.
No. 3 Dorman has had its last two games postponed, because the Cavaliers’ opponents had positive COVID-19 results. The Cavs, ranked No. 100 nationally, are scheduled to play Spartanburg this week.
No. 4 Byrnes has also been dealing with COVID-19 issues. Their October 9 game against Dorman was postponed until October 30. The Rebels game last week against T.L. Hanna was canceled.
On the field last week, Northwestern beat arch-rival South Pointe 17-3. The win moves Northwestern from No. 8 to No. 5 in the latest statewide rankings.
Breaking into the rankings this week is Boiling Springs at No. 10.
