For the first time since 2017, South Pointe is a South Carolina high school football champ. Friday, the Stallions, ranked No. 3 in the High School Football America South Carolina Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football, beat No. 9 Beaufort 41-7 for the AAAA title.
The state title is the seventh overall for South Pointe and the first for head coach DeVonte Holloman, who played linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys.
Holloman started his high school football career at Independence High in Charlotte, North Carolina where he won two state championships. He transferred to South Point for his senior season where he led the Stallions to the Class AAAA Division II title.
