The 2017 Southern California high school football season opens Thursday.  This weekend’s slate of games features four match-ups between teams in the High School Football America Southern California Preseason Top 25 that is created with our proprietary algorithm.

No. 2 Mater Dei opens the season on the road against No. 15 Bishop Amat.  The Monarchs, who are also ranked No 2 in the High School Football America National Top 100, will face No. 4 Bishop Gorman from Nevada next week in Santa Ana.

The other three Top 25 games are: No. 4 Narbonne opening at home against No. 7 Serra (Gardena), No. 8 Chaminade is at home against No. 16 Oaks Christian and No. 20 Servite is at No. 21 Norco.

Top-ranked St. John Bosco is on the road to face three-time defending Florida state champ St. Thomas Aquinas.  The Braves are ranked No. 1 in the area and No. 1 in our national Top 100.  St. Thomas Aquinas is ranked No. 14 nationally.

Like Bosco, No. 22 Vista Murrieta has a long road trip to play a nationally-ranked team.  The Broncos will play Georgia’s Colquitt County, ranked No. 29 in the nation, Friday.
