Showdown time in Southern California Friday night as the top two teams in the country in the High School Football America Top 25 will make their case for who’s the best in the nation…at least for right now, since we’re only in Week 3 of the season.
#1 St. John Bosco (California) will host #2 Bishop Gorman (Nevada) at Long Beach’s Veterans Memorial Stadium, in a rematch from 2014 that saw the two teams also enter the game ranked #1 and #2. Gorman won that one in Las Vegas 34-31, after they jumped-out to a 20-3 halftime lead.
The Bosco/Gorman game is one of two match-ups between Top 25 teams this weekend. Saturday in New Jersey, #13 St. Joseph Regional from Montvale will host upstart St. John’s College High School from Washington, D.C. SJC entered our Top 25 at #23 this week. Five of their first six games are against teams that began the season in our National Top 50. In the season opener, St. John’s beat then #11 Pittsburgh Central Catholic.
