Every year, St. Joseph Regional in Montvale, New Jersey is in the mix for a high national ranking in the High School Football America Preseason 100 because of its success on the field against one of the toughest schedules in the nation. This year will be no different for the Green Knights, New Jersey’s defending Group 4 Non-Public state champs who finished No. 15 in our national rankings last season.

Late Tuesday night, St. Joe’s announced its final 2019 opponent on Twitter. SJR inked a two-year deal with national power St. Frances Academy from Maryland. It’s a two-year deal with the Panthers coming to Montvale this year. SFA finished No. 52 last season in the HSFA 100. That ranking is little misleading, because St. Frances’ strength of schedule was greatly reduced when members of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association decided not to play the Panthers.

The game against St. Frances will come a week after a trip to the west coast where the Green Knights will face JSerra, which finished No. 40 in the Top 100 last season. After the SFA game, St. Joe’s will play New York Catholic League power Cardinal Hayes on September 14. SJR then jumps into the North Jersey Super Football Conference United Division schedule, which always one of the toughest in the nation, according to our proprietary algorithm that creates our HSFA 100.

“We are looking to play the best competition every year,” said St. Joe’s head coach Augie Hoffmann. “Playing schools like J Serra and St. Frances, along with our in conference schedule, will only make us better come playoff time. I’m excited for this schedule and for the opportunity to put our school and program in the national spotlight.”
