The top three teams in the first in-season High School Football America Top 25 have been very impressive early on in 2014.

Top-ranked Allen (Texas), which has won back-to-back HSFA “mythical” national championships, opened with a solid performance against Denton Guyer (Texas), which has won back-to-back Texas 4A Division I titles.  The Eagles look like they are ready to go for the three-peat themselves.

Watch Eagle QB Kyler Murray go to work in the highlights above.  The Texas A&M verbal commit accounted for 499 yards in total offense in the team’s season opener on Friday.

St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida) moved-up one spot from our preseason poll that was released on August 1st. The #2 Raiders looked great on both sides of the ball in its 38-7 dismantling of former #11 American Heritage (Florida).

After two solid road victories, Booker T. Washington (Florida), which was named national champs by several media polls last year, moves from #7 to #3 with victories against Oscar Smith (Virginia) and Tucker (Georgia).  The Tornadoes can’t rest with Friday’s showdown against against #7 Miami Central looming.  Central, which moves up seven spots, is riding a 14-game win streak after impressive, but close, road wins over former #2 Hoover (Alabama) and Stephenson (Georgia).  The last team to beat the Rockets was Booker T last season.

New to the poll this week are: St. Edward (Ohio) at #14, Buford (Georgia) at #17, Mater Dei (California) at #22, Archbishop Wood (Pennsylvania) at #23 and Colquitt County (Georgia) at #24.

Dropping out: Hoover after an o-2 start, #11 American Heritage, #22 Servite (California), #23 Trinity Christian (Florida) and #24 McEachern (Georgia).
