Texas high school football is coming into the 21st century when it comes to technology. While most other states have allowed the use of video technology, such as instant replay on the sideline, for years, the Lone Star State, which follows NCAA rules, did not.
That will change in 2024, after the University Interscholastic League approved the use of video & data technology such as computers, tablets, i-Pads, smart phones during the game. However, the UIL stopped short of allowing the technology on the field during the game. Instead, the governing body will allow its use in coaching booths and at halftime in the locker room.
Editor’s Note:
High School Football America works with Gamestrat, a premier sideline instant replay technology, that more than 500 high school programs have switch to over the last couple of years.
