South Oak Cliff head coach Clifton Todd is the 2022 Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association’s 5A Coach of the Year. Todd led the Bears to their second straight 5A Division II state championship and a No. 75 ranking in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

SOC EDGE rusher Billy Walton is the 5A Defensive Player of the Year. He will be playing his college football at the University of Texas.

On the other side of the ball, Midlothian Heritage’s Kaden Brown and Montgomery Lake Creek’s Tyvonn Byars are the Co-Offensive Players of the Year.
