The 128 team Texas 7-on-7 State Championships are underway in College Station.  Many believe that the three day tournament is a great sneak peak into the upcoming season.

Westlake is back to defend its 2015 Division I title.  The Chaparrals, who finished runner-up in the Texas Class 6A Division I state tournament last year, will try to defend its title without quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who is competing this week at the Elite 11 and The Opening at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.

2015 Division II champ Navasota is also back to defend its title.

Here’s how the tournament works…the teams are broken into two divisions — Division I and Division II.  Each team within each division will play three pool games after which the top two teams advance to the championship bracket that is a single elimination tournament that will lead to a state champion being crowned.
