Five-time Texas high school football state champ North Shore will be without head coach Willie Gaston for its first two district games this year. Wednesday, the University Interscholastic League Executive Committee suspended Gaston and former offensive coordinator Andrew Cameron for the illegal recruitment of players.
Gaston’s suspension isĀ “for lack of proper oversight of his coaching staff.” He didn’t take part in any of the violations.
On the other hand, Cameron received a three-year suspension for his role in the recruit student-athletes.
North Shore is coming off back-to-back runner-up finishes in Class 6A Division I, the largest classification in Texas. The Mustangs finished last year No. 26 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
