The top of the Preseason High School Football America Texas Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, is exactly the same as the final one in 2023.
Two-time reigning 6A Division II champ DeSoto starts at the top, followed by two-time reigning 6A Division I champ Duncanville at No. 2.
Just like the Eagles and Panthers, North Shore starts at No. 3, the same spot they finished ’23 after losing to Duncanville in the 6A Division I championship game. Westlake, who lost to North Shore in the state semis is ranked No. 4 in our preseason poll, which is where the Chaparrals were at the end of last season.
Speaking of North Shore, the Mustangs will get a good test out of the gate this week when they face No. 10 South Oak Cliff.
There are two other intra-Top 25 battles — Westlake faces No. 22 Prosper and No. 14 Dripping Springs faces No. 15 Vandegrift.
DeSoto opens its run for a possible three-peat against Georgia’s Creekside, ranked No. 114 in the HSFA 300 national rankings. The Eagles are also in the national championship chat with a No. 6 ranking in America.
