Longview is up eight spots to No. 12 in the latest High School Football America Texas Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Lobo movement comes after they ended DeSoto’s run of two straight Class 6A Division II state championships.
Saturday, Longview punched its ticket to the state semifinals with a surprisingly easy 50-14 win over the Eagles, who fall from No. 5 to No. 13 in the latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.
Up next for Longview in the 6A Division II semifinals is No. 5 Southlake Carroll.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 7 Summer Creek faces No. 16 Vandegrift for the right to go to AT&T the following week for the state championships.
No. 1 Duncanville and No. 2 North Shore remain on a collision course for their fourth straight meeting in the 6A Division I state championship game.
This week, top-ranked Duncanville plays No. 3 North Crowley in one semifinal. In the other bracket, North Shore faces No. 6 Westlake.

In Class 5A Division I, No. 14 Denton Ryan plays No. 18 Highland Park. Ryan jumps nine spots after beating defending champ Aledo 31-21 in the state quarterfinals. Aledo falls five spots to No. 17 this week.
The winner of Highland Park/Ryan will face the winner of Smithson Valley and Angleton is currently ranked No. 38 in the state and No. 300 nationally.
In 5A Division II, No. 15 South Oak Cliff is looking for its third state championship in four years. The Bears will square-off with No. 25 Arygle. The Eagles are making their first appearance in our Texas Top 25 this year. The winner will play the winner of the other semi between Boerne and Randall.
