It’s quarterfinal time in the High School Football America Iowa Top 10 and for the first time in a couple of weeks, we have some shuffling in our statewide rankings. In fact, it’s a complete shuffle below top-ranked Southeast Polk due to West Delaware’s 47-14 defeat of No. 2 and previously unbeaten Washington, which drops out of the Top 10.

West Delaware makes its first-ever appearance in our Top 10 at No. 10. The Hawks will play North Scott in the 3A quarters this week.

West Des Moines’ Valley is back in the Top 10 at No. 9 after knocking former No. 7 Urbandale out of the 4A postseason. After a 1-4 start, the Tigers are back at .500. This week in the state quarterfinals, Valley will play No. 2 Dowling Catholic. On September 4, the 7-time defending state champs shutout Valley 22-0.

Last year, Dowling Catholic beat Valley 21-16 for their seventh straight 4A state title.

In another 4A quarterfinal, No. 5 Ankeny travels to No. 4 Waukee. During the second week of the regular season, Waukee beat Ankeny 21-17.

In the 3A quarterfinals, No. 6 Harlan faces No. 8 Lewis Central. Back on October 9, Harlan beat Lewis Central 28-10.
