It’s game day, people! I feel somewhat sad for the rest of the American population who have no idea what opening night feels like. It is a rush. You cannot describe it. Ten months of tireless work is about to be put into use now. It’s time to stop taking. It is time to go! Get after it!
THE KEYS TO VICTORY
1. Win the turnover battle
2. Put pressure on the QB
3. Play physical
4. Capitalize on Special Teams
5. Red Zone execution on Offense
WHO TO WATCH
– QB James Garcia: he can beat you with his legs or arm.
– WR Jordan High: 6’4 target who plays physical.
– RB Dae Dae Morgan: This Sophomore has a blend of speed and power.
– RT Jesse Molinar: Big body with quick feet. He can drive you.
– LB Steven Duke: Sideline to sideline, he will find you. Tough.
– DB Kristian Johnson: lock down type corner who can tackle.
– NG Tony Garcia: 330lb & 600lb squat. He can stuff the gaps.
– S Devontae Greathouse: 6’4 and plays center field. Has an intimidating presence.
THE TIME IS NOW
It’s time to turn the corner. We have made a lot of progress. We will continue to do so. We are all set. It’s time to play!
RANDOMNESS
– Opening day is great but it’s filled with a little sadness. In 2010, Teko Johnson passed away. Without him I would not be where I am today. He was a mentor, friend and the best HC I ever worked for. He loved this time of year. I always think about Teko on this day.
– Healthy body leads to a healthy mind. I am ready to go. I feel great. What a difference a year makes.
– Nikki Heath, our Head Women’s Basketball coach, is afraid to play me one on one. Her assistant, Alicia Thompson, is afraid too!
– We… Are Westerners… Don’t forget it!
Time to roll… Will update you on scores. I hope we have week one FIO’ed!!!
