Thomson wins Georgia 2A state high school football championship by beating defending state champ Fitzgerald

Running back Jontavis Curry had a monster final game of his high school career to lead Thomson to a 32-27 win over defending 2A champ Fitzgerald at Georgia State’s Center Parch Stadium. The senior had a game-high 251 yards rushing and four touchdowns.

The title is the sixth for Thomson, but the first since 2002.

Both teams finish 2022 with 14-1 records.
