Thornton Academy beats Portland to win Maine Class A high school football championship

For the sixth time since 2012, Thornton Academy is a Maine high school football state champ. Saturday, the Trojans beat Portland 24-14 for the state’s Class A title.

Thornton Academy finishes the year 8-4. The loss is the first of the year for Portland, which finishes 10-1.
