Three teams that finished 2021 in the High School Football America 200, powered by NFL Play Football, will be in action in the 2022 Polynesian Football Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Highlighting the three-game schedule will be a September 9 rematch between reigning Nevada 5A champ Bishop Gorman and Arizona-power Hamilton. Last year in suburban Phoenix, Hamilton scored three times in the final 65 seconds to beat the Gaels 25-24.

“We’re looking forward to a rematch with Hamilton,” said Bishop Gorman head coach Brent Browner. “This game will have a major impact on both teams’ national rankings.”

After the loss, Gorman ran the table to win Nevada’s first-ever 5A title at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders. Overall, the Gaels own 11 overall state titles.

Hamilton advanced to Arizona’s Open Division semifinals where they lost to eventual state champ Saguaro. The Huskies were ranked No. 16 in America at the time of the loss. The school finished 2021 ranked No. 37 in the High School Football America 100. Gorman finished last year ranked No. 15 in the nation.

On September 10, Arbor View, which finished No. 3 in our Nevada Top 10, will take-on Mountain Pointe from Arizona.

Arbor View was 8-3 with two losses to Liberty, which finished No. 188 in the nation, and a regular season loss to Bishop Gorman. Mountain Pointe is coming-off a 4-7 campaign last season.

The following week, on September 16, Liberty will play Hawaii’s Kamehameha (Kapalama campus).

“Our players can’t wait to play in Vegas,” said Kamehameha head coach Abu Ma’afala. “We are thrilled to travel to the mainland and showcase our talent in such a high-profile event like the Polynesian Football Classic.”
