The 2021 season has been a dandy in Georgia with a large number of teams in each classification holding high hopes of winning state titles in December. The latest rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, are a great indication of the balance and parity across the state.

Take North Gwinnett for example. The Bulldogs enter this week’s battle against No. 1 Collins Hill with a sub-.500 record at 3-4. However, NG is still ranked No. 21. Three of the Bulldogs loss have been against teams ranked in our national rankings — No. 11 Hoover (Alabama), No. 35 North Cobb and No. 93 Mill Creek.

Hard to believe, but Archer returns to our statewide rankings created with our proprietary algorithm at No. 22 this week. After an 0-4 start against teams currently ranked nationally, the Tigers have won two straight. After back-to-back shutouts, Archer is favored in its last four games, which could give them a six-game win streak going into the postseason.

Calhoun makes its first-ever appearance in our Top 25 after knocking-off Blessed Trinity 32-27. The Yellow Jackets never trailed against BT, which falls from No. 19 to No. 24 this week. Blessed Trinity will try to get back to its winning ways this week when it plays No. 8 Cartersville.

Also making its first appearance in the Top 25 is Pebblebook at No. 25. The Falcons punched their ticket by beating former No. 22 East Coweta 38-21.

In addition to the Collins Hill/North Gwinnett and Cartersville/Blessed Trinity Top 25 battles, No. 3 North Cobb will take-on No. 12 Walton for first-place in Region 3 in 7A.
