Today marks the four year anniversary that High School Football America began operating in Los Angeles. On August 11, 2012, we did our first broadcast of High School Football America/SoCal on AM 570 FOX Sports LA. While many things have changed in the last four years, Trish Hoffman and I still remember our time doing the show and appreciate those that remember it to this day and express their sadness that we’re not doing an LA-centric radio show to this day.
In order to celebrate today, I thought it would be great to share that very first show, which you can listen to below:
Our very first guest was Petros Papadakis, who aside from being the co-host of the Petros & Money Show on Fox Sports Radio, is a huge fan and supporter of high school football, having played at Palos Verdes Peninsular High School in SoCal before going on to USC.
Our very first head coach on the show was Orange Lutheran head coach Chuck Petersen, who remains a great friend to this day. After Petersen, then Santa Margarita head coach Harry Welch talked about his team’s high national ranking, which was followed by a chat with another good friend, Mike Moschetti, who joined us to talk about coaching at his alma mater La Mirada.
The dean of Los Angeles high school sports journalists, Eric Sondheimer of the LA Times was a guest on the show, along with Mark Tennis of CalHiSports.com.
