Top 100 high school football recap – No. 37 Rockwall beats No. 4 Southlake Carroll in Texas Shootout

Two of the top junior quarterbacks went head-to-head Thursday night and when the smoke cleared, Rockwall, ranked No. 37 in the High School Football America 100, outscored No. 4 Southlake Carroll 44-42.

Southlake Carroll behind QB Quinn Ewers had a couple of 21-point leads in the first half, including a 28-7 lead after the Texas-recruit led the Dragons to four scores on their first four possessions.

Then, Rockwall, behind Braedyn Lock, who is consider a 3-star recruit in the 247sports.com composite rankings, helped the Yellowjackets score 27 unanswered points to take a 34-28 lead in the third quarter.

After that, SC took a 35-34 lead on a Ewers’ touchdown run.

Rockwall then regained the lead on a field goal.

Down 44-35, Ewers went back to work late in the game to close to within two points.

Southlake Carroll had a shot at the end, but Rockwall shutdown the Dragons with a pick.
