Top 300: No. 105 St. Anthony’s wins New York State Catholic Football Championship with big comeback

For most of the game, it looked like St. Francis (Hamburg) would upset nationally-ranked St. Anthony’s (Melville) to capture the 2022 New York State Catholic Football Championship.

St. Francis led 20-0 at the half, but the Friars, ranked No. 105 in the High School Football America 300, powered by NFL Play Football, scored 20 points in the fourth quarter for a 27-20 victory.

Frank Ruda’s touchdown run with 1:32 left in the game was the game-winner.

St. Anthony’s finishes 2022 11-1, while St. Francis finishes 6-4.
